Joining Year 7

The move to secondary school is an important time in a student’s life and we try to ensure the transition is as easy as possible for all concerned. We do this by visiting the students at their Primary schools and talking to them and their teachers to get an impression of them. This enables us to ensure friendship groups, where positive are kept together. This is followed up with a parental interview where a member of staff at The North will see them and their parents to explain about how we will support them both during the change. This is very important for those parents who are experiencing the transfer to secondary school for the first time. We then have two transition days where students will meet their form teachers and their class mates. This is then followed up with a parents evening the following week so parents can meet, discuss and ask questions.
