Year 7 Homework - Castle Challenge

Our year 7 students  undertook their history homework challenge with enthusiasm this term. The challenge required students to design and create their own medieval castle. The standard of the castles we received was exceptional and most students went above and beyond the requirements of the task. We had a range of styles, layouts and materials and our department is now beautifully decorated with their hard work.  Well done year 7.

Young Farmers’ Club

The North School Farm has a very successful Young Farmers’ Club. Any student can join this club. The Young Farmers’ spend a lot of their spare time on the farm and enjoy working with the animals and doing all of the jobs that are involved in caring for our wide range of animals.

Josie Rollings explains what being a Young Farmer means to her:

“This is my 4th year of being a member of the Young Farmers’ club. I enjoy attending the farm because I can be involved in lots of aspects of farming. During my time at the farm, I have worked with a huge range of animals from rabbits to large cows. I particularly enjoy training cattle and exhibiting them at local agricultural shows”.

“Since helping at the farm I have seen the birth of several animals which gives me a greater understanding of breeding cycles of livestock. I understand that it is vital for the farm to sell our livestock on for breeding or for meat to ensure that the farm continues to grow as this gives us the chance to purchase new stock. My experience through Young Farmers is really helping me now in my BTEC animal care course which is important to me because I hope to work with animals in the future.”

“Coming to the farm has really helped me to settle in at the North School. I have made lots of friends who are also interested in working with animals and we have good fun at the farm”.  - Amy Dobson Godfrey – Year 7

“I enjoy working with the calves at the farm. I come to the farm before school and at break and lunchtimes. I am looking forward to attending shows with the Young Farmers’ club”. – Abby Boxall – Year 7
