Year 7 Homework - Castle Challenge

12/01/17

Our year 7 students  undertook their history homework challenge with enthusiasm this term. The challenge required students to design and create their own medieval castle. The standard of the castles we received was exceptional and most students went above and beyond the requirements of the task. We had a range of styles, layouts and materials and our department is now beautifully decorated with their hard work.  Well done year 7.

Schoolcomms

We are pleased to announce that we have launched Schoolcomms this academic year so that we may email and/or text information relating to your child at school, to yourselves.

This system is an excellent way to manage communications between school and home.  As parents, you will be able to reply directly to messages from school, be informed of your child’s attendance, receive copies of timetables and school reports plus, of course, all the other correspondence you would normally receive throughout the year relating to parent evenings, school trips and events.  We are very excited about the introduction of Schoolcomms as we believe it will further improve the communication between ourselves and parents.

In addition, you can also download a free app ‘School Gateway’ to assist you in managing correspondence to/from the school.  Details below:

A new, free, smartphone app for parents is now available for download called ‘School Gateway’ for Apple (iPhone 3GS or later, iPad, iPod Touch) and Android (2.3 / Gingerbread or later) devices.

Please, could you download this new app to your phone (it’s free) as it will help us improve communication with parents – and save the school money.

The set-up process is simple and will take no more than a couple of minutes:

1.    Search for “School Gateway” in the Apple App Store/Google Play or on your  phone go to Apple) or Android.

2.     Install the app and if you are asked then say yes to “Allow Push Notifications”.

3.     When you launch School Gateway for the first time, please select ‘New User’ and enter the email address and mobile telephone number you have registered with the school.

4.     The system will send a PIN code to your phone; please enter this PIN code and the app will be activated for you.

As soon as you’ve got the system set-up, all of the text messages we send you will appear in the app; you will receive notifications/alerts as normal.
