6th Form Community

Rated Good by Ofsted 2015

‘Students in the sixth form receive a good education. The sixth form is well led. Students in the sixth form learn well in all subjects...teaching is effective and students make good progress in academic and vocational subjects.’ Ofsted June 2015

We are incredibly proud of our sixth form students and the progress they make.

Your time in the Sixth Form will be very different from your earlier schooling.  The leap in expectation, challenge and intensity of study required to successfully complete level 3 courses is significant.  Students in the Sixth Form have more independence and responsibility for their own work which requires the development of essential study skills.

At The North School, you will benefit from an established student-centred support system to ensure that you derive maximum benefit from your time in the sixth form.  We benefit from a unique community structure which includes the Sixth Form Principal, a Learning Leader, Pastoral Support Staff and a dedicated Careers Guidance team.  Having these educational professionals working on your behalf means there is always someone you can talk to about any aspect of your studies, pastoral issue and your future pathway.

Alongside the academic focus of the Sixth Form, students also benefit from excellent enrichment opportunities ranging from working as teaching support, running school clubs and societies for younger students through to linking with outside agencies such as NCS and Young Chambers.  The Sixth Form leadership team, our Head girl and boy, their Deputies and Prefect team form the backbone of the Student leadership within the whole school. They work closely with the school to provide support at Open Events and Parents Evenings. These opportunities provide valuable experience to enhance personal statements and CVs and enable our students to make a very successful transition to university and further training or employment.

Entry requirements for the Sixth Form are detailed in our prospectus.  ALL APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE MADE THROUGH WWW.UCASPROGRESS.COM and applications are accepted at any time.  Please contact a member of the sixth form team for further details.
